Critics and audiences have praised one of Canada's foremost violists, Nicolo Eugelmi for his style, presence and distinctive interpretations. The "Strad" magazine describes him as "a player of rare perception, with a keen ear for timbres and vivid imagination." In demand as soloist, recitalist, and chamber musician, Mr. Eugelmi maintains a regular performing schedule that takes him around the world. In Canada, Nicolo Eugelmi's appearances include l'Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal, CBC Vancouver Orchestra, Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and recital and chamber music series across the country including "Music in the Morning", "CBC Gallery", "Ottawa Chamber Music Festival", "Les Concerts Lachine", and "CBC McGill". A proponent of new music, he has given the Canadian premiere of John Harbison's Viola Concerto and has worked in close association with composers Gaetano Giuffré and Gavin Bryars in the North American premieres of their works for viola and orchestra. Much of Mr. Eugelmi's work has been broadcast on the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and Radio-Canada. Nicolo Eugelmi's discography includes Skylark Records' Brahms: Sonatas and Songs with pianist Libby Yu and mezzo-soprano Mariateresa Magisano, as well as the world premiere recording of What Voices in an Unknown Tongue by Imant Raminsh on CBC Records' Earth Chants, with the Vancouver Chamber Choir, co-soloist Mariateresa Magisano and director Jon Washburn.
